About Shelby
(she/her)
I started my movement journey by stepping into a dance studio at the age of six. What started as a fun hobby quickly grew into a lifelong relationship with dance. I discovered a love for movement through ballet, modern, and jazz, I found Pilates, yoga, and strength training as forms of cross training, I studied anatomy, dealt with my own injuries, and I developed an awareness of how human bodies move through space. These days I dance no longer for a career but for joy- line dancing, the occasional ballet class, and even a night out on the dance floor.
As I began my teaching career 13 years ago I began to fall in love with helping people. Not only could I guide someone back from an injury or relieve their nagging pain, I could also help shift their mindset and soften their nervous system to bring them back to themselves. Some of my favorite moments in teaching have been showing people just how much they are capable of. I’ve been told “I have never been able to do this” and then when we get them that exact movement outcome, that’s the magic.
I’ve worked hard on creating a life of balance and when I’m not teaching I am a big fan of couch snuggles with my rescue pup, Sophia, Prospect Park visits, and line dancing with my girlfriend. As a favorite treat, I search the world for the best chocolate chip cookies. If there’s a bakery, I’m in line. Sometimes I need an extra dose of sunshine and In-n-Out, so I love to visit my family in my hometown of San Diego, CA.
